Based in Milan, artist Idarica Gazzoni has a taste for travel ... and her creations speak for themselves. Eastern motifs and Ottoman textiles, an increased artistic sensitivity, this Italian designer handles her art to perfection.

Discreet confirmed, Idarica Gazzoni, a designer based in Milan, trained very young at first sight on Oriental motifs and Ottoman textiles that decorated the holiday home in Greece. Designer by choice, initially fascinated by the wall support and the Italian tradition has fresco, she embarks on frescoes and trompe-l'oeil whose invoice reenchants the large apartments of a refined clientele.

Her creative energy led her to textile printing several years later before moving on to the world of digital wallpapers from her original drawings. Among his achievements, the restaurant Liza in a palace in Beirut.

Borrowing motifs, cult colors, taste of the scenery, travel from the Mediterranean to Japan in the realm of signs and materials.

Why did you choose Arjumand's name?

Arjumand was the wife of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan who built the Taj Mahal, a legendary character. As an immobile traveler, I am inspired by an imaginary world that draws on the Orient, the Byzantine world, the Balkans and beyond in Russia, China and Japan. I never invent a motive, I reconstruct it according to my sensibility.

What are your design projects?

Panoramic papers on raw jute and, in April 2015, a selection of blue and white prints on textile. The next collection of fabrics will blend cultures between East and West on the theme of Arjumand's journey to Venice and Italy.
