Christel Georges: : The style of patinas that I love and that I realize is the one inspired by the patinas of the 18th century, where the atmosphere "Countryside chic" or family house prevails. They are made with chalky and thick textures that give the furniture an authentic character respecting the old side while associating a contemporary side related to the makeover in cream, white, linen, gray, taupe powder shades ... Their finish is often used here and there on the edges, moldings or relief of the furniture recalling those who lived and crossed the centuries.
Technical tips for Internet users?
Christel Georges:The basics that I advocate are:
- well decore and sand well if the furniture to be relooked is waxed;
- remove if the furniture is varnished without too much sanding;
- to use adapted products (pay attention to the tannin lifts and / or resin of the knots of softwoods).
Some aesthetic tips?
Christel Georges:Paint in a linear way in the direction of the wood without overload and be vigilant (e) as to the possible runs that must quickly smooth before drying. For used effects here and there, have a light hand. It is better to return to certain areas to accentuate the effect gradually. Finally, use a protector on dining room furniture for example. This type of furniture is solicited at the manipulation level (knocks, shocks) and at the level of its use and maintenance (food, liquids) ...
